Celebrate Smith-Cotton Homecoming Weekend with the Foundation - October 17 and 18, 2014
  • Homecoming weekend kicks off with the annual Smith-Cotton Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 17, 3:30 p.m. The parade begins at Broadway and Massachusetts and travels through downtown Sedalia.  The Foundation encourages all alumni celebrating a class reunion to participate in the Homecoming Parade.  Please call the Foundation office to register your class reunion float.  Organized by Smith-Cotton High School’s Student Council, the parade line-up begins at 3 p.m. at Smith-Cotton JUNIOR High. 
  • The Sedalia School District Foundation’s Annual Tailgate Party at the Jennie Jaynes Stadium begins at 5 p.m.  Complimentary cook-out (donations accepted).  Spend time visiting with classmates, friends and family! Fun for all ages!Cheer on the Smith-Cotton Tigers as they take on Center Senior High. 
  • Enjoy the “Alum-Fest” after the game at Dukes & Boots, 21746 West 50 Highway.
  • Saturday morning kicks off with a Pancake & Sausage Breakfast and a walk down memory lane with classmates and friends at the “old” high school.  Smith-Cotton Junior High, Saturday, October 18, 7:30-9:30 a.m., entire campus is open for tours and reminiscing.  Don’t miss the newly renovated auditorium—new modern, padded seats on main floor; balcony still retains the wooden seats original to the opening of Smith-Cotton.  Pancake and Sausage Breakfast in the new cafeteria. Tickets: $4 in advance or $5 at the door. Call the Foundation office to reserve advance tickets.  Entertainment provided by “Future Alumni" from Sedalia School District #200.  
  • Cruise out to Smith-Cotton High School for a Tour of the new facility.  We hope you'll consider Leave a Legacy options as you stroll the halls.

  • Join us as we honor Dr. Alan C. Braverman as our 2014 Distinguished AlumniHeckart Performing Arts Center, Smith-Cotton High School.  11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Enjoy a Saturday afternoon stroll down Ohio Avenue in beautiful Downtown Sedalia.  West
    • Central Missouri Vintage Auto car show
    • Book fair featuring the Pettis County Historical Society in the lobby of Hotel Bothwell
    • Smith-Cotton Alumni Art Show at Liberty Center
    • Reminisce while visiting Downtown Sedalia businesses. 
  • "Paint the Town - Homecoming Style" under the guidance of 1984 Kim Johnson Murphy and 19 Monty Murphy at Fitters 5th Street Pub - Upstairs. 5th & Ohio in Beautiful Downtown Sedalia.  Maximum of 50 participants. Sign in/Social hour begins at 1:00 pm.; sessions begin at 2 p.m.  Fee is $40.  Contact the Foundation Office or purchase at the Foundation Store today!

Sedalia School District Foundation

SC Jr HighThe Sedalia School District Foundation will:

  • Generate tax-free money for Sedalia School District use
  • Develop a perpetual private fund to help encourage long-range planning and to fund specific projects
  • Provide financial assistance for innovative projects or programming created by Sedalia School District staff
  • Develop and improve relationships with individuals and groups by offering a tax-free way to support activities and programs in the Sedalia School District in which they may have a special interest
  • Provide additional funding for scholarships
  • The Sedalia School District Foundation calls attention to school needs, solicits and encourages tax-free gifts from friends, alumni, concerned citizens and businesses of the Sedalia School District, provides an alternative funding source for programs, activities and improvements to our schools beyond the capability of, and in addition to, tax dollars.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Sedalia School District Foundation is to provide financial resources to stimulate learning opportunities for students, teachers, staff, and members of the community, including but not limited to scholarships, teaching aides, and facilities.

Vision Statement
The vision of the Foundation is to provide all Sedalia School District students innovative opportunities to help them reach their full potential and become productive, valued members of the community.

The Foundation
The Sedalia School District Foundation was incorporated in 1995 as a not-for-profit corporation for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code. The School Board and community leaders endorsed the Foundation because of the success of so many similar efforts by communities across the nation.

The Foundation is managed by a volunteer board of directors and operates completely independent of the school system. The superintendent of schools serves in an ex officio capacity. Representatives of the Sedalia School Board, the Sedalia Community Educators Association, and the Sedalia School District School Board serve as well. The Sedalia School District Foundation is committed to fostering excellence in education in each classroom. The Foundation has laid the necessary groundwork to realize the vision of providing educational enrichment at a time when public funds no longer provide all our classroom needs.

The Foundation's Goal
The goal of the Sedalia School District Foundation is to raise, manage, and distribute private investment to benefit our district's students, staff, and patrons.

The Sedalia School District Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) corporation. Individual and corporate contributions are tax deductible under the definition of the Internal  Revenue code.
